Here’s what you need.

Connect once and you’re set for the stay. Long password, so use the copy button.

Slow connection? The router is in the hall cupboard, unplug it for ten seconds and plug it back in. Takes about a minute to come back.

Self check-in with the Nuki keypad by the main entrance. We send your personal door code in your arrival message, if you don’t have it, just message us and we’ll resend.

• Check-inFrom 4:00 pm onward. Earlier if the place is ready, just ask.
• Check-outBy 12:00 noon. Later by arrangement.
• Main doorNo lockbox here, type your code on the Nuki keypad beside the front door to enter the building.
• ApartmentFirst floor, door 2. Your key is waiting in the lock on the outside of the apartment door, take it inside with you. You can lock the door from within.

Short list. The building is quiet and the neighbors are lovely, help us keep it that way.

• ·No smoking indoors. Balcony is fine. Ashtray is on the outside table.
• ·Quiet hours 10pm–7am. Belgian apartments have thin walls. No music or TV at volume during these hours.
• ·No parties or extra guests. Registered guests only. This is a residential building.
• ·Shoes off inside. Slippers by the door, help yourself.
• ·Pets by prior agreement only.

Central heating through radiators. The thermostat lives in the living room, by the TV.

• To warm upTurn the dial clockwise, marked 1 to 5. Level 3 is a comfortable room; 4 is warm.
• To cool downLower the dial rather than opening windows while heating is on. The building is well-insulated.
• Radiator valvesEach radiator has its own valve. Leave at 3 unless a room runs cold.
• Hot waterComes from the collective boiler, always available, no pre-heat.

Oven & hob

1. The hob is induction. All the pots and pans in the apartment are induction-ready, so you are good to go.
2. The oven has a fan symbol (everyday roasting) and a flame symbol (grill). Default to fan.
3. Preheat light on the right goes out when ready.
4. Extractor fan switch is above the hob, three speeds.

Dishwasher

1. Tablets are under the sink, labeled.
2. Everyday program is Eco, second button from the left. Takes about 3 hours.
3. Quick wash (top-left button) takes 45 minutes but uses more water.
4. Let it cool for 10 minutes after it beeps before opening.

Washing machine

Available for stays of 3 nights or more. Just ask if you would like to use it and we will set it up for you.

Coffee machine (Lavazza Blue LB900 Classy Compact)

1. Lavazza Blue capsule machine, a distinct capsule system, not A Modo Mio, not Nespresso, not Dolce Gusto. If you buy more, ask specifically for Lavazza Blue capsules. The starter capsules are in the tin next to the machine.
2. Fill the tank at the back with fresh water. Drop a capsule in, close the lever, place your cup, then press the espresso button (small) or the lungo button (big).
3. There’s a dedicated hot-water button too, for tea, instant noodles, or any hot drink without a capsule.
4. Empty the drip tray and used-capsule drawer when full, a float pops up to remind you.

TV & streaming

1. TV remote on the coffee table. Hit the red button to wake it.
2. Netflix and YouTube Premium are signed in for you. Feel free to log out and use your own accounts, please log back out before you leave.
3. Cable channels: the “TV” button toggles between streaming and cable.

Fire extinguisher is wall-mounted in the entrance hall, next to the apartment’s front door, under the green emergency-exit sign. The evacuation plan is posted next to the front door. Smoke alarms are installed in the apartment and along the stairwell escape route. If one beeps on a loop, the battery needs changing (let us know).

A short list of useful things within a short walk. Zaventem is small and friendly; most of what you need is within 10 minutes.

• Hoogstraat (shops)

  5–8 min walk

  The main shopping street, just over the railway bridge: Aldi for groceries, Bakkerij Jill for fresh bread and pastries, Apotheek Kestemont for the pharmacy.

• Frituur Fritpleintje

  5–7 min walk

  A proper local frituur on Heidestraat. Fries, snacks, Belgian classics for €5–10. Closed on Saturdays.

• Nanaban (ramen)

  8 min walk

  Excellent little Japanese ramen counter on Heldenplein, much loved locally. Lunch 12:00–13:00, dinner 18:30–21:00, arrive early or book.

• ’t Cuyperke

  5–8 min walk

  Long-running Belgian-French taverne in the centre, opposite the main car park. Mains €22–32, summer terrace.

• Brasserie Mariadal

  10–12 min walk

  Bistronomie inside an 18th-century manor in Park Mariadal, Michelin-listed. Our pick for a special evening, the terrace overlooks the park.

• Trains, bus & the airport

  4–20 min

  Zaventem station is about 15 min on foot, Brussels-Central in ~12 min, the airport one stop away (NMBS/SNCB app for tickets). The Watertorenlaan bus stop is ~4 min. Or walk to the airport in about 20 minutes, see our route.
